There's a lot of cafeteria here in SKKU but I especially liked the ones in 600th building and in business hall cafeteria. It's because most of my classes are there.. hahahaha..
Today I'm going to show you what kind of food do I eat in the cafeteria!
|
This is fried rice with shrimp and some vegetables in it. It taste salty and spicy. |
This is Donkatsu (돈까스). It's one of the mostly eaten food or the must food in every cafeteria because it's very popular even among Koreans! Mostly, Donkatsu in Seoul was made of Pork but they can use chicken too. It's like fried pork covered with bread crumbs which makes it crunchy. They usually come with rice and salads. If you are lucky, there will be some side dish too.

Pork Cutlet Ver. |
This is the one which Korean called Nasi Goreng! It says that it comes from Indonesia. If you follow my instagram (@elisabethnjato), you probably know that it does not taste like Indonesian Nasi Goreng. It's because, they made the seasonings with some kimchi paste in it and there's also some ingredients you won't find in normal Nasi Goreng like corns and bean sprouts. That's why it doesn't taste like Nasi Goreng. Probably this was to make the food familiar with the Korean taste or else it won't be sold. Well for your information, everytime there is Nasi Goreng in the menu, Nasi Goreng has the most buyers!
This is the food called "Dosirak" where people like to eat and shake them. It's served in a metal box with rice, kimchi, seaweed and egg inside. They are usually served with a miso soup. Try to have fun shaking the box to mix them. Careful because the box is hot!

Next I want to introduce you to the second must food in cafeteria which was the Ramens!! They always have Ramens in the menu like Donkatsu. Ramens can be served with different toppings like egg, cheese and dumplings. They will serve different amount of price.

Next I want to introduce rice foods! They can be stir fried style or with soup style.
|
This one was chicken stir fry. Served with miso soup, sausage and some onions (upper side dish), squid fried (middle side dish) and pasta salad (lower side dish) |
|
This one is Manduguk (Dumpling Soup. With Squid stirfry side dish and rice. |
|
This one is rice with tuna and ham. Served with clear soup and fried potato with mayonnaise. The toppings are variety of vegetable, egg and seaweed. |
|
This one is spicy chicken. It's similar to Donkatsu but the Chicken was the toppings together with vegetables. Served with pickle, miso soup and pasta salad. |
So these are some of the food examples for foreigner who doesn't really like Korean food especially Kimchi!
Taste: Overall, foods in Cafeteria are similar with Asian food but there's a lot of Korean food also. The taste was delicious like normally we would eat and I would say that it's quite worth it eating here. The foods keep on changing everyday so do not worry that you will get bored with the food. The must food here was the Donkatsu, Udon style and Ramen!
Price: The price range from 2500won to 5000won. I don't think there's a food above 5000won unless you wanna buy 2 kinds of dishes. I would say that it's very beneficial for you who are on a budget to eat here in cafeteria.
Open & Closing: The opening of the cafeteria was 7am for breakfast menu. I haven't tried the breakfast menu before but I saw that mostly of the dishes were soup base like kimchi jjigae and foods like that. The lunch hours starts on 11am and ends at 2pm.
Hope this post can give you a feeling of school cafeteria foods!
